From July 17 to August 28, 2026, the fourth edition of AlTre Storie sotto le Cime returns to Auronzo di Cadore. This cultural festival is dedicated to mountains, mountaineering, and the extraordinary adventures experienced among the world’s most spectacular peaks.
For seven evenings, the heart of the Dolomites will welcome some of the most renowned figures in international mountaineering, alongside writers, mountain guides, and personalities who have helped shape and share the history of the mountains. Over the years, the festival has become a key event of the summer season in Auronzo, attracting mountaineers, hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and lovers of alpine culture.
Created by Nicola Bombassei and Luca Calvi, AlTre Storie sotto le Cime confirms its position in 2026 as one of the most anticipated mountain culture events in the Dolomites. The programme spans different generations and disciplines, offering audiences the opportunity to hear authentic stories of exploration, ascents, personal challenges, and reflections on the relationship between people and the mountains.
The festival will open on July 17 with Silvo Karo, a legendary Slovenian mountaineer known for some of the most significant achievements on the world’s great rock walls.
On July 24, writer Matteo Righetto will take the audience on a journey through nature, local communities, and life in the mountains.
On July 31, Nives Meroi and Roman Benet, one of the most admired couples in world mountaineering, will share their experiences after completing all fourteen 8,000-metre peaks together without the use of supplemental oxygen.
On August 7, the spotlight will turn to Hans Kammerlander, one of the most influential figures in international mountaineering, followed on August 12 by Maurizio “Manolo” Zanolla, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Italian free climbing.
The event on August 21 will feature Marco Furlani, mountain guide and leading figure in Italian climbing, while the grand finale on August 28 will welcome Catherine Destivelle, a global icon of female mountaineering and one of the greatest climbers in the history of rock and ice ascents.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, AlTre Storie sotto le Cime offers a unique opportunity to meet some of the most respected voices in contemporary mountaineering and hear stories of passion, exploration, courage, and respect for the alpine environment.
Today, the festival stands as one of the most important cultural events of the summer in Auronzo di Cadore, helping to promote the region through the stories, experiences, and values that have always defined the world of the mountains.
