Walking Through the Woodlands of Auronzo di Cadore

Auronzo: a vast municipal territory (Kmq 220 approximately) with a de-velopment of about 40 km between Cima Gogna, its southern hamlet and the famous Misurina, its northern hamlet. The town is framed by the Dolomites. From the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, that are well visible from many places in the valley, to the Cadini of Misurina, the only entire Dolomite group in the territory of a single municipality. From the wild and secluded Marmarole to the majestic Croda dei Toni up to Tudaio and Ajarnola, the last made famous by the poet Carducci in his “Ode al Cadore”.

The territory of Auronzo is rich in thick forests of conifers and beech, including the famous “Foresta di Somadida” and its fir trees used by the Serenissima of Venice for foundations and flagstones of ships. Rich in water with the stream Ansiei and its 11 tributaries. Three beautiful lakes, Santa Caterina, Misurina and d’Antorno, located between Auronzo and Misurina.

A beautiful and coveted land that once defended itself tenaciously from the sights of the neighbours from Cortina and Dobbiaco. These deeds are among other things told in the Legend of the Rooster.

In this unique landscape, in order to allow lots of people to use paths and roads close to the settlements, we worked to map them, point them out, mark them. Routes that allow you to get to know the sights and corners of the territory of Auronzo without necessarily having to face difficult or demanding routes. More than 40 routes have been created, some of which are easier, others are more difficult due to the distance travelled, orientation and physical effort.

Our aim is to bring you immediately in contact with pure and authentic nature to make you live an experience of harmony and peace.
